Tesla to Launch Model Y L in China This Fall
Tesla has unveiled the Model Y L, a long-wheelbase, six-seat version of its popular electric SUV, set to launch in China this autumn. Measuring 4,976 mm long with a 3,040 mm wheelbase, the Model Y L is 179 mm longer and 44 mm taller than the standard Model Y, offering a spacious third row. Powered by dual motors (142 kW front, 198 kW rear) with a combined 456 hp and an LG-sourced NMC battery, it delivers a CLTC-certified range of up to 688 km. Priced around 400,000 yuan ($55,710), the Model Y L targets China’s family-oriented SUV market, competing with rivals like the Huawei AITO M8 and Li Auto L8. Production has begun at Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory, with deliveries expected in September 2025.
