Electric Motorcycle Sets New World Record Atop World’s Highest Active Volcano
OJOS DEL SALADO, Chile – Dec. 9, 2025 – Swiss alpinist Jiri Zak has ridden a near-stock Stark VARG EX electric dirt bike to the summit of Ojos del Salado at 6,721 m (22,051 ft), setting a new Guinness World Record for the highest altitude ever reached on an electric motorcycle.
The ascent on November 30 beat all previous internal-combustion records on the same volcano, which historically required heavily modified vehicles suffering from severe power loss in thin air.
Unlike petrol bikes, the Stark VARG delivered full torque instantly with no altitude-related performance drop, no carburetor adjustments, and no transmission. The sealed battery and motor performed flawlessly in sub-zero temperatures and hurricane-force winds.
GPS data is now under official review by Guinness World Records.
Stark Future CEO Anton Wass: “This proves electric powertrains don’t just match combustion at extreme altitude — they dominate it.
”The Barcelona-based company calls the feat “one small ride for a bike, one giant leap for electric mobility.”
