Tesla Semi in Europe!
At the IAA Transportation 2024 commercial vehicle exhibition, which is taking place in Hanover from September 17 to 22, the innovative Tesla Semi long-haul truck is being demonstrated. The electric truck as part of a road train with a gross weight of 36.3 tons has a range of up to 800 km.
The prototype was presented back in 2017, but small-scale production was launched only in October 2022. Today, a number of trucks are already in operation in the United States, mainly in the Californian fleet of PepsiCo.
The Tesla Semi will enter the European market no earlier than 2026. By this time, a new plant in Nevada, which is still under construction, should be launched, capable of producing up to 50 thousand cars per year. Elon Musk does not rule out the possibility of organizing production at the German enterprise Giga Berlin, where the Tesla Y model is currently manufactured.
Tesla also promises to deploy a network of patented gigawatt charging stations. Tests have shown that with their help the road train can travel up to 1700 km per day. The question of price remains open. During the demonstration of the prototype 7 years ago, the figure of 150,000 dollars for the basic version was mentioned.
