Munro Vehicles Munro MK_1 Pick-Up Truck Debuts As EV Off-Roader With 190-Mile Range
Munro Vehicles (Munro), the sole volume production car company in Scotland and a manufacturer of all-electric 4x4s, has unveiled its latest model, the Mk_1 Pick-Up, during the Fully Charged Live North event held from May 19th to 21st, 2023.
Following the successful launch of the Munro MK_1 Truck last December, the ultra-capable and ultra-utilitarian MK_1 Pick-Up represents a significant milestone in Munro's strategic mission to meet the growing global demand. With its unique capabilities, the MK_1 Pick-Up empowers customers in challenging sectors such as mining, construction, utilities, agriculture, and defense to achieve imminent decarbonization goals without compromising performance.
Munro CEO and Co-Founder Russell Peterson confirmed the pricing of the MK_1 Pick-Up, starting from £49,995 Ex VAT, and announced that the company has already secured more than 200 orders for this model, including three from FTSE 100 companies and ten from FTSE 250 companies. The overwhelming response from customers has resulted in a full two-year order book for both the MK_1 Pick-Up and the MK_1 Truck, prompting Munro to expedite its search for larger premises to meet the increasing customer demand.
The Munro MK_1 Pick-Up was revealed in its 'Performance' variant, showcasing a striking Munro yellow paint finish and exuding a purposeful visual presence. Like all other models in the Munro MK_1 range, the new pick-up combines the rugged reliability and easy repairability of a full-time 4x4 mechanical drivetrain with a state-of-the-art electric powertrain, ensuring zero tailpipe emissions.
The spacious rear bed of the Munro MK_1 Pick-Up is designed for easy loading and can accommodate a Euro Pallet payload weighing up to 1050kg. The Performance model of the pick-up boasts an impressive maximum braked towing capacity of 3,500kg, enabling effortless transportation of various cargo, ranging from farm implements and livestock to construction and disaster relief equipment.
Powered by a robust electric powertrain that delivers a prodigious peak power output of 375 / 280kw and an instantly available torque of 700Mn / 516ft-lb, the Munro MK_1 Pick-Up can sprint from 0 to 60mph in just 4.9 seconds. The model also offers a 220KW electric motor and a choice of Utility and Range variants, catering to different customer preferences.
The 82.4kWh battery of the MK_1 Pick-Up can be rapidly charged from 15 to 80% using a 100kW DC charger, taking only 36 minutes. With a fully charged battery, the MK_1 Pick-Up boasts a range of over 190 miles, allowing it to operate off-road for up to 16 hours on a single charge.
Designed, engineered, and manufactured in Britain, the Munro marks the first light vehicle to enter production in Scotland in more than four decades.
