The iconic maker of Goldbears and other gummy treats is making a serious move toward sustainability. HARIBO has teamed up with logistics partner Recht Logistik to deploy battery-electric semi trucks for emissions-free shipping across key European routes.
This isn’t just window dressing. The German candy giant is putting Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric semis (or similar heavy-duty EVs) into service for regular runs between its production and distribution hubs in Grafschaft, Neuss, and Eindhoven. These routes are perfect for electrification — predictable distances that fit nicely within the trucks’ up to 600 km (about 370 miles) of range per charge.
With 400 kW fast-charging capability, the electric rigs can quickly top up and stay on schedule, keeping those factory-fresh gummies moving without a drop of diesel.The switch forms part of HARIBO’s broader push to cut transport-related carbon emissions.
