The iconic maker of Goldbears and other gummy treats is making a serious move toward sustainability. HARIBO has teamed up with logistics partner Recht Logistik to deploy battery-electric semi trucks for emissions-free shipping across key European routes.
This isn’t just window dressing. The German candy giant is putting Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric semis (or similar heavy-duty EVs) into service for regular runs between its production and distribution hubs in Grafschaft, Neuss, and Eindhoven. These routes are perfect for electrification — predictable distances that fit nicely within the trucks’ up to 600 km (about 370 miles) of range per charge.
With 400 kW fast-charging capability, the electric rigs can quickly top up and stay on schedule, keeping those factory-fresh gummies moving without a drop of diesel. The switch forms part of HARIBO’s broader push to cut transport-related carbon emissions. Electric semis deliver instant benefits here: zero tailpipe emissions, quieter operation for urban areas, and lower long-term operating costs thanks to reduced maintenance on electric powertrains. For a company that’s been making joyful candy since 1920, this feels like a natural evolution — bringing the same innovation and quality to its supply chain that fans expect from every bag of gummies. As more big brands look to decarbonize logistics, HARIBO’s move adds another high-profile name to the growing list of companies betting on electric trucking. Sweet progress, indeed.Post is under moderationStream item published successfully. Item will now be visible on your stream.
