Chery Auto Executive Vice President Li Xueyong announced the order numbers on July 13, 2026, following the initial vehicle reveal on July 9, 2026. The new model family expands the brand’s presence in the mid-size electric vehicle segment by offering buyers both pure-electric and extended-range plug-in drivetrains.

The clean exterior body measures 4,836 mm long, 1,896 mm wide, and 1,489 mm tall, riding on a wide 2,900 mm wheelbase layout. • Design: Features the “i” series family look with a steeply raked A-pillar, dual-tone body, ring-shaped DRL, four LiDAR sensors, and semi-hidden door handles.

    • Interior: Spacious cabin rivaling the Mega, with second-row zero-gravity electric rotating seats offering multiple modes (welcome, viewing, face-to-face).

    • Powertrain: Dual-motor AWD (150 kW + 250 kW), top speed 200 km/h.

GWM has applied for an updated version of the Ora Ballet Cat electric hatchback, nicknamed the "Volkswagen Beetle clone" for its resemblance to the iconic German model. A new version of this vehicle is being prepared for market launch with increased power and a new name.

The Ora Ballet Cat electric vehicle was launched in China in 2022, priced between 193,000 and 223,000 yuan (US$28,480 and US$32,905). It was an electric hatchback with an exterior design inspired by the Volkswagen Beetle. It has similar proportions with pronounced wheel arches, a nearly flat windshield, and a sloping roofline. Marketed as a car for women, the Ballet Cat offered a "lady driving mode" that increases the distance from cars in front, a selfie camera, and a "warm man mode" that turns on the heating and air conditioning with one touch to reduce discomfort during menstruation. However, the Ballet Cat was a resounding failure: according to China EV DataTracker, only 8,523 units have been sold since July 2022.

Chinese automaker Seres, the company behind the popular Huawei-backed Aito brand, has introduced a new independent EV brand called Aiva to diversify and reduce its heavy reliance on the tech giant.Aiva (an acronym for “Artificial Intelligence Voyage Ahead”) was officially unveiled on June 9, 2026, alongside the Origin Concept coupe SUV. The brand emphasizes “warm AI technology” focused on user needs, with a name that also evokes “love me” in Chinese. Its first production model, the ME7, is expected to launch by the end of 2026, targeting the mainstream segment above 200,000 yuan (~$27,600).

              Shift Away from HuaweiIn

In a clear departure from its Huawei partnership, Aiva is collaborating with ByteDance’s Volcano Engine to integrate the Doubao large language model for advanced intelligent cockpit features, including multi-modal interaction, emotion perception, and integration with Douyin and Feishu. For autonomous driving, it has partnered with DeepRoute.ai instead of Huawei’s Qiankun ADS system.

ByteDance has confirmed its role is limited to software and cockpit services, with no plans to enter vehicle manufacturing.

          Strategic Context

The move addresses Seres’ “Aito dependency syndrome.” In 2025, Aito vehicles accounted for over 90% of Seres’ sales (426,000 out of 472,000 total NEVs). While the Huawei collaboration has been highly successful since 2021, Huawei’s expanding partnerships with other manufacturers have reduced Seres’ exclusivity.

Aiva operates under Chongqing Saidou Technology (formerly Landian), which was restructured in 2025. Ownership now includes a Chongqing state-owned enterprise as the largest shareholder (34.5%), Seres (32.96%), and CATL’s investment arm (9.89%).

The launch signals Seres’ push for greater independence in China’s highly competitive EV market.
