GAC launches sales of SUV powered by Toyota

Trumpchi Emkoo debuted with some tempting price tags. The Chinese corporation GAC has launched the Trumpchi Emkoo crossover with a hybrid power plant from Toyota. The starting price for a stylish model is 132,000 yuan (19,350 US$). In the top configuration, the price tag for a car already reaches 172,000 yuan (25,230 US$).

GAC launched the Trumpchi brand back in 2008. This is the main brand for GAC Corporation, under which it sells most of the models, so it is not surprising that Emkoo came out under it. It is worth noting that GAC Group assembles Toyota cars under license in China. It looks like their collaboration is only getting closer as many Trumpchi vehicles today are equipped with Toyota's hybrid system. In the first half of 2022, GAC managed to sell over 170,000 vehicles. The company's best-selling model was the GAC GS4 crossover.

After a short introduction, let's talk about Trumpchi Emkoo. The model is made in a new corporate style and its exterior is distinguished by rather sharp and aggressive lines. Particularly interesting is the front lighting. The stern is suspiciously reminiscent of the Japanese Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. Note that the GAC also works very closely with Mitsubishi, so the similarity of the models is understandable. Dimensions GAC Trumpchi Emkoo: 4680 mm long, 1901 mm wide and 1670 mm high. Wheelbase - 2,750 mm.

In the initial versions, the SUV is available with a 1.5-liter 4A15J2 turbo engine with a capacity of 177 horsepower and 270 Nm of torque. Above it is a complete set with a 2-liter 4B20J1 turbo engine developing 252 hp. and 400 Nm of torque. Well, the top of the engine range can be called a hybrid installation, consisting of a 2-liter aspirated AB20L1 with a return of 140 "forces", working with a two-stage hybrid transmission and a separate electric motor. The total power reaches 238 "horses". Fuel consumption does not exceed 5 liters per 100 km.
