EBRO's Electric Revolution: Spanish Industrial Vehicle Giant Returns with Sustainable Pickup | EBRO Electric Vehicle Launch 2025
After a hiatus of over three and a half decades, the iconic Spanish brand, EBRO, re-emerges in the industrial vehicle landscape with a renewed vigor. The much-awaited announcement of EBRO's return was made at the Barcelona Motor Show, where the company also showcased its first-ever fully electric pickup, set for commercial availability by 2025.
The EBRO Legacy Revived
Originally famed for its contribution to the industrial and commercial vehicle sector between the 1950s and 1980s, EBRO is set to reclaim its legendary status. During the Barcelona Motor Show, a prototype, almost ready for mass production, marked the brand's dynamic return after a 36-year-long pause.
EBRO's first offering in this new era targets professionals and sustainability enthusiasts alike, emphasizing its commitment towards the environment. This iconic brand, previously known for its agricultural machinery, is gearing up for a grand revival in its 70th year, coinciding with the launch of its first new model since 1987.
EBRO's Commitment to Electrification
Confirming its commitment to the future, EBRO is going all-in on electrification. The company's first venture in this direction is the 100% electric pickup. Boasting a fresh and formidable design, it features a pair of circular headlights placed at each end of the front, embedded into a sleek black detail. This design decision lends the vehicle a contemporary edge, while also adding an element of aggression. At the rear, slim vertical lights adorn the cargo compartment pillars.
The Future-Ready EBRO Electric Pickup
With a design rooted in practicality, the new EBRO electric pickup competes head-to-head with most rivals in the market. This includes a two-seater cabin and a cargo compartment, along with an impressive length of over 5 meters. Although EBRO has kept the interior under wraps, it's known that the pickup will sport two electric motors, delivering a maximum power output of 220 kW (299 hp). Powering the motors is a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery, offering a remarkable range of up to 440 kilometers.
Production at Nissan's Barcelona Factories
Adding to the excitement, EBRO's production line will be hosted at Nissan's factories in Barcelona. This exciting endeavor not only marks the revival of a brand with significant historical importance but also breathes new life into Nissan's currently idle facilities in Barcelona's free trade zone. The D-Hub plant, belonging to the Japanese automaker, will be restructured and repurposed for the production of EBRO's first 21st-century model, set to commence operation in a year.
With a mix of innovation, sustainability, and respect for its rich heritage, EBRO's comeback promises to reshape the future of the electric vehicle industry.
