The 4xe Day event took place today. On it, the American manufacturer Jeep presented three battery-powered novelties at once. They will go into production in the next two years. All this is part of a large-scale strategy to electrify the JEEP model range, in which half of the model range in the United States will be electric. In Europe, it is planned to completely get rid of models with internal combustion engines.
The most interesting of the presented trinity can be called Recon. Jeep does not hesitate to draw analogies between it and the legendary Wrangler, both in terms of design and in terms of off-road characteristics. At the same time, it is equipped with removable doors, like the Wrangler. The model will be able to overcome heavy off-road areas due to the proprietary Jeep Selec-Terrain all-wheel drive system, adapted for electric vehicles, as well as e-locker locking and special tires. The model is built on the STLA Large platform, but the technical characteristics have not yet been disclosed.
Speaking to reporters during the presentation, Jeep CEO Christian Meunier said that Recon will not be a replacement for Wrangler. It will be produced in the USA and should be on the assembly line in 2024, and it will be possible to pre-order it in 2023.
While Recon aims to conquer the off-road, the elegant Wagoneer S is more like a crazy Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. The company itself hinted at this, noting that the car has high dynamic characteristics. So, the model accelerates to the first hundred in 3.5 seconds. However, the power, maximum speed and battery capacity are not disclosed. But the power reserve is known, which will be about 643 kilometers on a single charge. Wagoneer S is also based on the STLA Large architecture. The automaker promises a large interior space, almost the largest in the segment of medium-sized SUVs. Production of the model will start in 2024 in the USA.
Jeep Avenger this little all-terrain vehicle has become the hero of various spy shots of recent months. It can be called one of the most long-awaited models of the brand. The electric car is designed specifically for the European market, but will also appear in Japan and South Korea. The novelty will take place one step below Renegade. As with the Wagoneer S and Recon, Jeep is not yet ready to share details about the power plant. More information will appear on October 17 at the Paris Motor Show. The market debut is scheduled for 2023.
According to Jeep, by 2025 there will be four new electric trucks in Europe and North America. Three of them have already been disclosed, the last one remains, and, apparently, we will learn something about it at the Detroit Auto Show, which will open in a few days. In addition, Jeep North America CEO Jim Morrison teased a hybrid Grand Wagoneer 4xe with an estimated power reserve of 800 kilometers.
