An Ultium battery pack with 12 modules and a capacity of 100.4 kWh will power a single rear-mounted Ultium Drive electric motor capable of producing an estimated 340 horsepower and 324 pound-feet of torque when the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition debuts. Approximately 300 miles of driving range can be obtained from a full charge. GM President Mark Reuss took to LinkedIn to express his delight at the first pre-production Cadillac Lyriq electric crossover vehicle rolling off the production line at the Spring Hill Manufacturing facility. The facility, which was exclusively dedicated to the Saturn brand from its inception in 1990 to its closure in 2007, has most recently produced the Cadillac XT5, XT6, and GMC Acadia crossovers. General Motors invested $2 billion to convert the Tennessee plant to the production of battery-electric vehicles a little more than a year ago. Reuss stated that the Cadillac Lyriq is not only the first of a number of Ultium-based products to come from there, but that it is also nine months ahead of schedule and will be ready for customer deliveries "in a few months." The Lyriq Debut Edition is the third General Motors product to be built on the new Ultium platform, following the electric Bright Drop delivery van and the electric GMC Hummer. When Cadillac opened reservations for the limited-edition Lyriq launch model in September, it sold out in less than 10 minutes, though we are still unsure of the exact number of units that were available for purchase. It's possible we'll find out when keys start getting handed over. Customers will be taking delivery of a snazzy, wagon-y number, powered by a 100-kilowatt battery juicing a single motor turning the rear wheels. Output is estimated at 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, and claimed range is 300 miles on a charge.
